Carlos Tevez

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has apologised for his recent conduct following his touchline row with manager Roberto Mancini in September.   The 28-year-old returned to the club last week , following a self-imposed, three-month exile in Argentina.

"I wish to apologise sincerely and unreservedly to everybody I have let down and to whom my actions have caused offence," Tevez said in a statement. He has also withdrawn his appeal against the club's misconduct charge.

"My wish is to concentrate on playing football for Manchester City Football Club," he added.   The Argentina international has been missing from the City squad since November and has not featured for the club after boss Roberto Mancini alleged the striker refused to come on as a substitute during City's 2-0 defeat by Bayern Munich in a Champions League tie in September, although Tevez claimed there had been a misunderstanding.

Straight after the incident, Mancini claimed the Argentine was "finished" at City, though he later suggested an apology would put an end to the matter.

Tevez was suspended and later fined for misconduct before he flew back to South America to begin his unauthorised leave on 7 November, for which he has lost nearly £10min salary, fines and bonuses payments.

During his three-month absence, the former Manchester United and West Ham striker was linked with transfer window moves to AC Milan, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain but failed to secure a switch away from Manchester.

APR HOPEFULL

APR coach Ernest Brandts thinks his team’s work is clearly cut out as they need to win against Tusker in two weeks’ time to progress to the second round of Orange Champions’ League.

The Rwandan league champions were held to a goalless draw by their Kenyan opponents at Nyayo stadium in Nairobi.

The Dutch coach said that his players did not do themselves any favors by failing to put away the many chances they had against the Kenyan side which spells danger if the latter score in Kigali, then APR have to score twice.

“First of all it is good we did not concede any goals but then again we failed to finish off the many chances that we had in the game.

“We now have to be extremely careful in the return leg because if Tusker score, then we need to score twice to progress. That is the sort of danger we shall be coming up against,” Brandts said.

Another worry for Brandts is the risk of APR players getting injuries while playing for their respective countries in the 2013 African Nations’ tournament next weekend days before the return leg.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho seems more concerned with the cold weather and artificial turf at the Luzhniki stadium than Tuesday's Champions League last 16 first-leg opponents CSKA Moscow.

"Minus 10 degrees Celsius outside is not the same as a plus 15," Mourinho told reporters in reference to the sub-zero temperatures in the Russian capital.

"Then you must play on a plastic pitch, which is not easy, especially in cold weather."

The outspoken Portuguese expressed his dislike for the Luzhniki's synthetic surface on his previous visit to Moscow with Inter Milan two years ago, saying soccer was "much more beautiful when it is played on a natural grass".

"Nevertheless, we expect to get a positive result tomorrow, either a win or a scoring draw," Mourinho said on Monday.

Haye Wanted

David Haye wanted for questioning over Dereck Chisora brawl

David Haye is wanted for questioning by German police over his brawl with Dereck Chisora in Munich.

Chisora was released without charge on Sunday after he and his trainer, Don Charles, were taken from the city's airport by police.

Officers are still searching for Haye, but his whereabouts are unknown.

Haye and Chisora clashed at the post-fight press conference afterChisora was beaten on points by defending WBC champion Vitali Klitschko.

Haye was not at his hotel on Sunday morning and failed to turn up for his scheduled flight, with police still eager to talk to him about his involvement in the brawl.

It is understood officers went to Haye's hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning and were knocking on doors and questioning guests in a bid to find the former world heavyweight champion.

According to Press Association Sport, it is thought Haye could already be back in Britain having possibly fled in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

"David Haye is not in his hotel, he is not at the airport. We don't know where he is," police spokesman Gottfried Schlicht told Sky Sports News.

"We want to speak to him about what happened on Saturday night. We have to hear both sides of the story."

"It's not a charge against David Haye. We have to report everything that happened between Chisora and Haye. Maybe Haye has gone home, then we would talk to our colleagues in Great Britain."

After being detained, Chisora was told by police that he was free to return to England. He made no comment after arriving back at Heathrow at 2200 GMT on Sunday.

Arsenal Out

Arsenal's miserable week got worse on Saturday when they were knocked out of the FA Cup in a 2-0 fifth round defeat at Sunderland while beleaguered Chelsea fared only slightly better by scraping a 1-1 draw against second tier Birmingham City.

Three days after a 4-0 Champions League defeat at AC Milan that manager Arsene Wenger branded their "worst performance in Europe", Arsenal's sloppiness was back as Kieran Richardson's strike and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's own goal sealed their fate.

Sunderland were joined in the quarter-finals by Everton and Bolton Wanderers who recorded 2-0 wins over Championship (second division) Blackpool and Millwall respectively, while Norwich City were upset 2-1 at home by second tier Leicester City.

Chelsea needed Daniel Sturridge's equaliser to force a replay with Birmingham after a draw at Stamford Bridge that did nothing to alleviate the pressure on manager Andre Villas-Boas.
