East African Breweries Limited has posted a 36 per cent growth for the period ending 31 December, signaling that the beer maker’s drive to expand its capacity within East Africa is bearing results.
EABL recently doubled its production capacity in Uganda by investing Shs43.2 billion in its subsidiary. The firm also extended its market share into Tanzania, taking over Serengeti Breweries in 2010.
The firm grew its operating profit by 20 per cent over the same period. The growth comes on the back of an unstable operating environment characterized by high levels of inflation and currency depreciations, which were witnessed across East Africa during the period under review.
