Border Trade

Rwanda and Burundi sign a pact to facilitate cross border trade. The agreement Monday marked an important milestone in a history of trade facilitation across borders within the East African community.

Rwanda and Burundi signed a bilateral agreement on the establishment of a one stop border post at Gasenyi 1 and Nemba border post.

The bilateral agreement between the two countries was signed by Mushikiwabo Louise, the Rwanda Minister of foreign affairs and cooperation and Kavakure Laurent her Burundian counterpart at Nemba border post.

The agreement will also enable the revenue authorities from both Burundi and Rwanda achieve maximum possible integration of border control documentation, procedures and systems for the mutual success of the objective underpinning this agreement.
